Shareholders Agreements

Shareholders Agreements

What is a Shareholder Agreement?

A shareholder agreement is an agreement between the shareholders of a company which set out the terms of their business relationship and how dividends are managed and paid out. The agreement may include provisions about the ownership, purchase, sale and transfer of shares, and other crucial contractual matters between shareholders.

Shareholder agreements should also have critical clauses about what happens to the shares if a shareholder dies.

Many businesses are fraught with operational difficulties because of poorly drafted shareholder agreements. Do you and your business partners need to review your current shareholder agreement?
